Pythons start the New Year with a Win

17 January 2016

The Pythons first match for nearly a month and the boys were ready for a battle. Playing on a big wide pitch it's was going to an open game, although the grass was very long and more suitable for the oval ball game. Captain William lead the team today and it was clear, as per the previous encounter between the two sides it was going to be a full blooded end to end affair. Chances were few and far between in the first 15 minutes with both midfields putting in some strong challenges. Man of the Match Rhys and top scorer Matthew were all over the park, and a break from the back lead the home defence to give away a free kick on the edge of the box. Up steps Matthew with another rocket, 1-0. H/T. The second half was much the same, a few chances, strong tackling and end to end stuff. A couple of changes due to injuries for Piran and Harvey and the Pythons changed formation with Brandon and Mr Super Sub Thomas coming on. Right at the death a wonderful one two between William and Luke saw the ball pinged across the goalmouth, begging for someone to get the end of it, a scramble insued and after what resembled a game of pinball, the home keeper dived on the ball. Game over. Well played boys, great battling performance against a much bigger physical Newquay side.
